Jacoby's Cafe, nestled just off the beaten path in Melvin, Texas, is a beacon of authentic home-style Southern cooking. This modest restaurant, located at 201 N Noyes Ave, captures the spirit of true Texan hospitality and comfort food. Its charm lies not only in the food but in the atmosphere — a clean, retro-inspired space that feels like stepping into a warm, familiar kitchen.

The menu offers a rich variety of classic American fare, with standout dishes such as Chicken Fried Steak, Pot Roast, and their signature Big Boy Burger. The Chicken Fried Steak, in particular, is often hailed as the best by locals and travelers alike, showcasing a perfectly seasoned batter that crisps to golden perfection. Jacoby’s doesn’t just serve meals; it creates experiences. The couple of customer reviews highlight a warm, familial environment that amplifies the dining experience. Philip Dorr’s words reflect the genuine Texas vibe, while Meredith Pringle’s account of a sangria and summer salads event reveals Jacoby's capacity to blend a homey feel with unique culinary and social occasions. What an adorable hidden gem! Attended an event here of sangria competition in which summer salads were highlighted along with the prepared ingredients for making your own sangria. Pulling up to the store front, it is hard to imagine that this place exists in a jungle of dirt roads. The atmosphere is precious, clean, retro vibe that gives it a homey feel. The summer salads that were highlighted were the perfect combination of light, fresh, sweet and savory that gave a party on the taste palette. The selection of ingredients each team could choose from to produce their own unique sangria was extensive and well varied. The owner and wine selector were knowledgeable, friendly, and added to the overall experience. Fantastic selection of unique wines as well as a variety of sodas, and other NA drinks to select from. Thank you for the experience!

Let me tell ya, if you’re anywhere near Jacoby’s Cafe and craving good’ol home cooked meal, stop at Jacoby’s!! Was driving through to get to Austin and was looking for a dinner spot. Drove a mile or so out of the way and it was worth it!! The food was amazing! Hamburger Steak and Chicken Fried Steak were the best we’ve ever had! I would seriously consider making a day trip from Austin to go back. I can only imagine how great their steaks would taste! Besides the food, the atmosphere and hospitality were over the top! Thanks so much Jacoby’s Cafe…excellent meal!!

This place is nothing short of amazing. The food was fantastic and perfectly fried. They had perfectly seasoned their batter for all the food and the service was tremendous. It’s off the beaten path but well worth the stop.

Great food and even better staff. Your Mom probably does not treat you as well as do the staff here. Meet me here most Mondays for the cheeseburger special with either French fries or onion rings, iced tea, and dessert included! I'll probably be back on Fridays for the catfish with coleslaw, beans, and your choice of another side. I usually go for some fried okra as I am old enuf to love real food! Tea and homemade dessert included with daily specials.

Cute hidden gem! Heard about this from the Texas daytripper episode about Brady, so have been meaning to go when we pass through the area when they’re open, and they did not disappoint! It was a decently busy place for how remote it is, but not loud/crowded feeling. The food was delicious! We did the combo platter for an appetizer which was onion rings, fried pickles, and fried jalapeños-all of which were delicious! Then split a chicken fingers plate which came with salad, toast, fries, and white gravy…definitely recommend! Wish we had room for dessert because the strawberry cake looked delicious!

Not gonna lie, I found this place by doing a bit of cyber stalking a long lost colleague of mine. Turns out she runs this place. Figured if she was associated with it, the food was sure to be awesome. We happened to be passing through on the way to a wedding and stopped in. Food was great. Service was excellent. Glad to see shes still doing what she does best.
